According to the Daily Mail, Thierry Henry is set to be named as Aston Villa’s new manager with John Terry as his assistant in an incredible double appointment.
Henry is currently Roberto Martinez’s assistant with the Belgium national side, but has made it clear that he wanted the job at Villa Park ever since Steve Bruce was sacked on Wednesday.
Bruce was relieved of his duties following a 3-3 draw with then bottom club Preston North End that meant they had won just one of their previous nine league games. The run extended on Saturday though as the Villans lost 2-1 to Millwall under caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald.
While some fans were concerned by the lack of experience that Henry and Terry have as a pair, many were excited by their potential. Terry spent last season playing at Villa Park, but left the club at the end of his one-year contract as they failed to secure promotion at the final hurdle with a 1-0 loss to Fulham in the playoff final.
