Per , Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to reshape United's boardroom personnel, with Brailsford set to take a step back. He will return to his old job, as director of sport at INEOS, and move away from the role of head of football operations at Old Trafford.

Ratcliffe credits Brailsford with transforming the performance set-up at Old Trafford but he will return to overseeing INEOS' investment in their cycling team, as well as in Nice, after United failed to qualify for Europe. They finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham.
