The Colombian has been linked with a move to the Spanish side in recent weeks following his impressive performances for the Reds. Interest in the the 26-year-old will likely have been boosted after his double helped Colombia to a 2-1 win against Brazil in World Cup qualifying this week.

The winger's father has given Barca a boost in their hopes of signing the ex-Porto star by admitting that his son is a big fan of the Catalan club. Luis Manuel spoke just over a week since he was released by the National Liberation Army (ELN), an insurgent group that kidnapped him along with his wife before letting him go 12 days later.

"The truth is that I know very little about Barcelona at the moment. It is true that Luis is a loyal Barcelona fan and it would be his dream to go there," he told . "So far I would like to thank Porto and Liverpool for the way they welcomed him and received him. Luis is a player who finds it easy to win over because of the way he is, because of his humility, his work, his dedication, he is a very disciplined player, thank God. There would be no problem if Luis came to Barcelona because it is a top team and one of the best in the world."
