Just over a year ago, Mohamed Diame was lauded as a hero in the North-East, with his play-off final goal successfully guiding Hull City back-up to the Premier League.
However, times have changed for the Senegalese international, who is now struggling to find form and game time at Newcastle.
Now, reports are suggesting that Diame’s former boss Steve Bruce, is keen on bringing the midfielder to Aston Villa in January.

Diame, who is valued at £5.4million by Transfermarkt, has started just one game for the Toon Army this season and hasn’t endeared himself to the Newcastle fans with his lacklustre performances. Despite a decent Premier League career with Wigan and West Ham particularly, the 30-year-old now looks out of his depth in the English top flight.
Consigned to a substitute role at St James’s Park this season, Diame may feel a move to Aston Villa is the only way to salvage his career and clai a place in the Senegal squad for the World Cup next summer.
Upon hearing the news of a possible Diame departure, Newcastle fans voiced their opinions on Twitter…
